DETAILS
1. Ten consortia completed pre-qualification questionnaires.
2. The ISOP stage will provide bidders with the opportunity to develop their approach to providing efficient and value for money solutions.
3. The aim is to announce a shortlist of three by the end of October 1999.
NOTES FOR EDITORS
1. The STEPS project is an example of closer working between the Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise. It was announced in a Press Release on 19 August 1998.
2. Under STEPS, the ownership and management of their respective estates is expected to be transferred to a private sector partner who would be required, under the terms of the contract, to provide the Departments with serviced accommodation.
3. The start of the procurement process was announced in a Press Release on 30 March 1999. The exercise has been notified in the Official Journal of the European Community (OJEC).
