STRATEGIC TRANSFER OF THE ESTATE TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR (STEPS) NOTIFICATION OF SHORTLIST FOR INVITATION TO NEGOTIATE STAGE

1.�� The Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) stage is designed to
���� establish the preferred bidder.
2.�� The aim is to announce the preferred bidder in July 2000, award
���� the contract in late 2000 with a contract start date of
���� April 2001.
��������������������������NOTES FOR EDITORS
1.�� The STEPS project is an example of closer working between the
���� Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise.��It was announced in
���� a Press Release of 19 August 1998.
2.�� Under STEPS, the ownership and management of their respective
���� estates is expected to be transferred to a private sector
���� partner who would be required, under the terms of the contract,
���� to provide the Departments with serviced accommodation.
3.�� The start of the procurement process was announced in a Press
���� Release on 30 March 1999.��The exercise has been notified in
���� the Official Journal of the European Community (OJEC).
